ANOTHER APC CHIEFTAIN IN POLICE NET OVER 180 MILLION FRAUD

APC OF DOOM:

ABASIONO OKON IN POLICE NET OVER 180MILLION FRAUD.

Mr. Abasiono Okon is currently cooling off his feet in police net over an alleged N180million fraud he committed over last 2yrs. In the last  one (1) week, seven (7) petitions have been received and approved by the police command for investigations.

Abasiono Okon is a newly recruited chieftain of Ikono APC whose defection ceremony was witnessed by APC State Chairman (Mr Ini Okopido) and Senator Aloysius Etok. Abasiono was one of the aspirants for Ikono State Constituency seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the just concluded party primaries who lost woefully to Hon Asuquo Nana (Mbakara). He was arrested by the police a fortnight ago and is still currently in detention.

He is alleged to have defrauded people to the tune of N180million under false claims of having a personal relationship with government project teams and Finance and General Purpose Commitee (FGPC) which he deployed as bait to sway his victims with fake contract papers and other  promises of giving them jobs and facilitating their appointments into the government.

With police investigations confirming several lodgements into his personal account, Abasiono Okon in his confessional statement to the police had already pleaded guilty to all the allegations of fraud levelled against him by people he allegedly defrauded to garner money for his electioneering.

However, by the support of some Ikono notable APC chieftains and in an apparent attempt to vent his anger and frustration on Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-udo (aka Macaire), the leading candidate to Ikono/Ini House of Representives seat and whose popularity he Abasiono wanted to ride on to win the party nomination whom he now feel was responsible for his failure to clinch the ticket, he resorted to blackmailing and roping Macaire into the criminal charges laid against him.

Abasiono Okon in a desperate attempt to smear the character of this reputable philanthropist and safety expert-turned-politician, has alleged him as one of the beneficiaries of the proceeds from his alleged fraudulent and ill-gotten wealth.

Afraid that he might be heading for jail after all, Abasiono Okon still bitter about Ukpong-udo's victory and his own failure at the just concluded primaries decided not to go down alone but frame up the latter to score cheap political point. It is also a set strategy by opponents of Macaire to house of representatives seat to cause distractions during the ongoing campaigns and election processes.

In Abasiono Okon additional confessional statement, Okon who had admitted defrauding the people that reported him to the police decided to politicise his miseries alleging that he gave Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-udo N24million out of the said N180million he allegedly defrauded people. He said he had been giving Obong Ukpong-udo the money in tranches and by hand only.

However, when he was asked by the Police to substantiate his claims with evidence he could not. Rather, he resorted to hiring false witnesses from his new APC party, his personal aide (Donald Boniface) and one Prince Nsisong Ntuk (whom he claimed was a media consultant to Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-udo at the time) to defend him.

In the confessional statements of his hired witnesses, the police noticed grave contradictions.

Speaking with this reporter, Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-udo, the Ikono/Ini federal house of Representatives hopeful had visited the police command to set the record straight.

He said that in the five months (prior to the primaries) he knew Abasiono Okon, he has never demanded or collected even N1000 from him. It will be recalled that he Abasiono Okon never even had a dime prior party primaries to pay delegates who voted him with 41 votes. A debt he is owing till date.

He said that although he had been forewarned about Abasiono Okon criminal record, he decided to tread with him with wisdom since he (Abasiono) was always using his name around to lure delegates and party stakeholders in order to win some cheap popularity to his favour since he Abasiono was hardly known by Ikono constituents.

Meanwhile even when Mr Abasiono Okon is still currently in Police detention, more petitions of alleged fraud committed by him are still pouring in on the police desk on a daily basis.

The latest of one of such petitions is the one filed by a Pastor from Delta State alleging him (Abasiono) of defrauding him to the tune of 80million naira. Evidence of lodgment has been  verified in one of the bank accounts of Abasiono Okon.

So far, all the cars, household items and property of Abasiono Okon has been reportedly confiscated by the police. He is still in detention at A division as at the time of filing this report.
