OFFICE OF IKONO COUNCIL BOSS FELICITATES PDP CHAPTER CHAIRMAN OVER ZONING OF POLITICAL OFFICES

The Ikono youths under the aegis of Ediene/Itak PDP youth assembly, an apex socio-political group in the area has thrown their weight on Chief Moses Akpan led PDP for an unbiased zoning report in the area.

The group poured encomiums on the Ikono chapter of PDP recently during an emergency meeting held in Itak, Ikono LGA.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the chairman, Akparawa Idongesit Ukaetuk who doubles as the PA to the PDP state legal adviser - Barrister Goddy Umoh and Political Adviser to Ikono Local Government council Chairman- Hon Itoro Columba  thanked the Leadership of PDP in the area for zoning of political offices through the zoning committee, which he described as a display of truth, equity and justice and done at the right time for the interest of the party and community at large.

In his words  " we thank the PDP, Ikono Chapter for their foresight and obedience by queing behind Governor Udom Emmanuel and state PDP party chairman's directives".

Although it is worth noting that his boss, Hon Itoro Columba, was part of the factional few stakeholders meeting organised by Hon Victor Udofia, a desperate and an aggrieved aspirant for Ikono / Ini House of Representatives who at this time is not favoured by the zoning during 2019 -2023 elections, a report as agreed upon by the major stakeholders of Ikono LGA including the incumbent  House of Representatives member, Engr Iboro Ekanem, Barr Goddy Umoh, PDP state legal adviser, Sir Sunday Udo Akpan, other political appointees from the area etc.

A youth leader from the area who pleaded anonymity revealed that Hon Itoro Columba is interested in the House of Assembly seat in 2019 but he (Itoro) is not ready for resignation as it is constitutionally required since the seat of chairmanship would move to another bloc automatically, rather he has resorted to supporting one Barr Ekemini Uba, from Ikono south (not favoured by zoning). It is on record that this aspirant was the immediate past secretary of Ikono LGA when he- Hon Itoro Columba served as the transition chairman, Ikono Local Government Council.

It is planned that Ekemini Uba will serve for a single term in office and handover to Hon Itoro Columba in 2023 upon expiration of his tenure as local Government chairman.

This is viewed by Ediene Itak stakeholders as an attempt to mortgage the House of Assembly seat from Ediene Itak (his Zone) to Ikono South for selfish purposes and against the approved zoning report for 2019 -2023.
