Ikono Stakeholders threatens defection

Re: THREAT TO THE SUCCESS OF PDP IN IKONO: AN SOS

_By: Concerned Citizens of Ikono State Constituency_

Our attention has been drawn to a communique purportedly written and signed by the good people of Ediene/Itak Extraction in Ikono Local Government Area with the above caption.

We find this very disturbing as such claims if true will amount to pandemonium, anarchy and a general state of unrest hence we wish to put the records straight to the reading public.

According to Martin Luther King, Jr. “Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable…..Every step toward the goal of Justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concerns of dedicated individuals” This is what we represent in Ikono State Constituency.

As concerned citizens, we are bound to stand firm on the principles of fairness, equity and justice and to actualize the second term bid of His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel.

According to the communique, there is an ongoing plot by a clandestine cabal to shortchange the Ediene/Itak people of their right of producing the next member in the State House of Assembly, against the zoning arrangement which was recently revitalized by the Ikono Chapter of the PDP.

If such concerns are true, then such cabals are technically working against the success of His Excellency in Ikono. As we will not fail to vote against the PDP. We should not forget that justice denied anywhere diminishes justice everywhere.

We therefore sound in strong terms, that the office of the member representing Ikono State Constituency rightly belongs to the Ediene/Itak zone of Ikono and only a myopic individual or groups of individuals/mischief makers will want to take what belongs to a community of forty-one (41) gazzetted villages and expect victory at the forth-coming elections

That Ikono is known for peace does not mean that external forces must continue to trample on her rights and privileges. We know how to play opposition too if taken for granted. Our consistent loyalty should not be misunderstood for cowardice.

The recently revitalized zoning report is an easy way through this imminent doom. Ikono cannot consistently be hijacked by a privilege few over the collective interest of others. A favoured son should wait for his due time.

Though we are also deeply concerned about the silence of the _State legal adviser_ and the _Council Chairman_ who happens to come from that extraction, we enjoin the stakeholders and people of Ediene/Itak extraction to come together as one and drive the needed project.

Or has Ediene/Itak been mortgaged? If so, then the stakeholders and people of Ediene/Itak extraction should hold the duo responsible for their mandate.

We will continue to support the right things to be done even if that means an alternative political party should the PDP fail to live up to the zoning reports on the Federal and State Houses of Assembly in Ikono Local Government Area. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

Long Live The Concern Citizens of Ikono State Constituency
Long Live Ikono Local Government Area
Long Live the PDP
